What’s New at Snow Software: April 2024

This month’s new and enhanced product portfolio capabilities cover innovations in many different areas. Read on to find out the latest and greatest improvements.

Multi-currency support for SAM on Snow Atlas

This feature provides the ability to add agreements and licenses in each country’s currency and view all agreement costs in the desired currency. When adding this functionality to Snow Atlas, we made some improvements that were not in our on-premises solution, including the ability to add multiple conversions and conversion rate services, so that rates can be converted or changed quickly.

This feature is available for applications on Snow Atlas except Oracle, containers, cloud license management and SaaS management, which will be added later this year.

In-product planned maintenance notification

From time to time, we need to make planned updates that require system downtime on Snow Atlas to improve the experience for everyone. We’ve made it easier for users to stay informed about those planned maintenance windows with notifications directly in Snow Atlas.

Fourteen days before the planned service downtime, users will see a banner in Snow Atlas alerting them to the upcoming maintenance. This banner will appear two more times, two days before the planned maintenance and then 30 minutes before the maintenance begins. Customers will have the option to dismiss the banner when it appears.

Users will also be able to find this planned downtime information in the Notifications section of Snow Atlas.

Improved role access assignment

Security is a primary concern for all businesses today. With ISO27001 and SOC2 Type 2 certifications, customers can have peace of mind using Snow Atlas. And, we’ve improved the security features of user management.

Snow Atlas users can now assign specific roles and permissions to individual, external authorized users when inviting them to access their Snow Atlas system. As a customer, you can assign the same roles to the entire external access instance, providing all authorized users the same permissions. You can also assign roles and permissions on an individual basis, providing more control and granularity on what data each user is able to access, depending upon their needs and your security requirements.

With these new capabilities, Snow Atlas customers can better control what information users can access, thereby increasing their security posture and controls.

SaaS Management

AI-enhanced product descriptions

Snow SaaS Management now has detailed application descriptions powered by AI. This new feature will help customers do a better job of reigning in SaaS sprawl and performing application rationalization.

Innovation area: On-premises product enhancements

Compliance exclusion for users

To improve the accuracy of compliance reports for user-based applications, we are pleased to announce a new innovative approach that exclude users when calculating your compliance position. This has been a popular enhancement request.

Now, directly in the Snow License Manager interface, customers can add exclusions for users or create dynamic exclusion rules for applications, application families and manufacturers.

This feature is now available in our on-premises offering and is planned to be available on Snow Atlas later this quarter.

Adobe Creative Cloud user-linking enhancements

Another popular feature enhancement is now available in Snow License Manager v9.34. Sometimes, there are multiple Adobe users that need to be manually linked to one user in Snow License Manager. We’ve improved the usability of this feature and now customers can leverage the auto-complete multi-select component to link users. Simply input a few characters in the text box, and the system will display a drop-down list of recommended results to choose from. Users may also select multiple users to be linked.
