Granarolo Group

Large Italian milk producer chooses Snow to optimize licences in its growing software estate.

“The combination of our very competent partner SoftwareONE, and the highly automated functionalities of Snow’s Software Asset Management platform created a unique winning formula. We had spent a lot of time investigating the right solution to manage complicated licensing scenarios and Snow more than others met our requirements.  A huge benefit has been the integration of managing our SAP environment into the same project with a certified-SAP native solution.”

Massimiliano Cusumano, CIO Granarolo Group

Company Background

Granarolo is one of Italy’s largest milk producers with more than 1000 farmers across 12 regions and 17 production sites in Italy and six abroad. Uniquely, the Group oversees the entire production process from processing 850 million liters of milk per year to the distribution of dairy products to points of sale.

Due to a period of rapid growth through acquisition, Granarolo Group needed to manage and optimize its software licensing. The non-specialized tools they had were not able to track and manage such complicated things like different licensing metrics, different software publishers assigned to different organizational nodes and cost centers  through one single easy-to-use interface. Granarolo group realized that a proper Software Asset Management strategy, needs a proper, specialized SAM technology that can support the entire process. Working with its technology partner SoftwareONE, Granarolo Group selected Snow – a highly automated solution to cover this gap in terms of control and visibility.

Snow’s Contribution

Using Snow Inventory agent to gather data, Granarolo was quick to find any blind spots on the network. And by integrating Snow License Manager with its SCCM database it could manage, optimize and contain software costs across the business. Furthermore, with only a two-day implementation of Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software, Granarolo was able to have pretty much immediate insight and visibility on its SAP users’ behaviour and determine which licenses types should be assigned to which users and optimize its SAP licensing.

  • Managing software licensing in a quickly expanding estate and discovering opportunities to optimize agreements and rationalize applications
  • Immediate insight and visibility of SAP users’ behaviour and determine the right license types for users
