Software Recognition Service starts working the moment inventory data is imported into Snow License Manager. All program files are matched against Snow’s software recognition engine, covering over 600,000 applications from more than 100,000 software publishers. Automatic matches are immediately shown in the asset repository of Snow License Manager, listing the vendor name, product name, version and edition. Applications installed as part of a suite or bundle are grouped and upgrade and downgrade rights are assigned. Automatic suggestions are given for the most common metric by which an application is licensed, such as per core or per user. The software recognition database is updated daily with recognition signatures and rules for newly-discovered software titles. Updates are made available to all Snow customers immediately, without the need for painful library upgrades.
Snow’s Software Recognition Service is comprehensive and powerful, providing actionable insight on all applications and removing the guesswork and legwork once and for all.
